The Baker is Leaving the Building!
It's mid-July, and just when I think I can't take the heat anymore......I get the opportunity to leave Big D for a few weeks. So, needless to say, the factory will be closed until August 6th. We will researching new flavors while soaking up the sun on the Mediterranean Sea. But, rest assured, I'll be ready to start baking just in time for school to start. We had a huge response last year from our clients who were looking for that special something to send to their undergraduates. I am anxious to catch up with these parents and students to see how everyone is doing. Go ahead and place your order with a future delivery date.
Many of you called when placing your school orders last year. Please feel free to do so again this year. We are never too busy for our clients (ok, unless we're on vacation.....but I'll call you when I get back!) Looking forward to discovering new tastes.......

They call me Duchess....
As we've mentioned before, Ellie and Ollie call my mom Duchess. I couldn't think of a better way to honor her than to name our latest cookie, The Duchess. Duchess loves oatmeal cookies, but doesn't necessarily like raisins in them. After asking around, I found that most people DO like raisins in their oatmeal cookies. So, as a compromise, I decided that Duchess wouldn't mind raisins if they were first soaked in dark rum because she does like rum. The plump raisins and a few extras in this moist and chewy cookie really make it the best oatmeal raisin cookie I've tried. Ellie is in complete awe of this cookie because she eats oatmeal with raisins for breakfast. As far as she is concerned, why not just have some cookies for breakfast?
For all of you out there that seek your mother's approval, you'll really appreciate this cookie. I went through batches of cookies before this one came to fruition. I cried, I called my mom, I scoured my grandma's recipes to no avail, I said a lot of bad words (in my head when E&O were around), I cried some more, and then I just drank the rum 'till I didn't care.
I just realized something as I wrote this. My mom probably did all of the above on a daily basis while raising my sister and I. We certainly weren't the easiest kids on earth, but surely not the worst (surely?).
To all the moms out there I say thank-you. This "mom" business is hard stuff, and I appreciate all of you that came before me. As for you, Mom, I love you very much and thank you for being my mom. I'm a lucky girl.
Permanent LinkRed Haute (as in muy caliente AND fancy)
Here it is.....the cookie that we've all been waiting for....the Red Haute. She's quite the sassy cookie dressed in red with a devilish kick at the end of each bite. Red Haute "smacks ya in the kisser" I've been told.
This gem of a cookie is made from dark chocolate, cinnamon and a dash of cayenne pepper that leaves a tingle at the back of your throat that makes you wonder "What was that?" Red Haute's beautiful dark red hue comes from a quick dunk in red sugar before baking.
The Ellie&Ollie Red Haute is not for the faint of heart.
Permanent LinkIt had to be you........
It's that time of year again! You, the bride, are planning the big day that you have been dreaming about for years. Of course, you have gads of magazine clippings and color swatches; have booked tastings and fittings galore; but what will you offer your guests as they leave the reception? It has to be original. It has to be sophisticated. Ellie and Ollie Cookies for Dinner fit both of those requirements.
Our cookies are packaged in a simple, beautiful brown box that holds three cookies. Just the perfect size for your guests as they head for home ecstatically talking about your wedding and the reception. They will know that you put a lot of thought into every last detail of the wedding as they bite into these scrumptious morsels.
I used to plan wedding receptions at SMU, and I know how important each detail is to you. We will make your guests last impression of your wedding a delicious, fabulous one!
Also, it would be my pleasure to deliver your wedding favors to you if your wedding is in the Dallas area. Send me an email or give me a call!

The holidays are officially over (yes, I realize it's the 10th already....it's just taken me a while to recover from the holiday rush). We are rapidly creating a new cookie for the month of February. The name will be unveiled soon, but for those of you who really know me, you'll recognize my homage to a song by my favorite band. For those of you who don't know me, it's just a really cool name! It's the perfect treat for Valentine's Day!
I need to get baking. Talk to you all soon!

Permanent LinkThe "It's About Time" Announcement!
This will be short and sweet (much like us). The website is.....drumroll please.....fully functional for the holidays! What does this mean? It means that at 2 a.m. on any given day you can complete your holiday shopping. How? You can place just one order on our website and ship to everyone on your list. You are in control of the date you want them delivered, the messge you want tucked inside the cookie box, and where they are being shipped. Pretty cool, huh? Our mom thinks so.
Ellie and Ollie (we are getting pretty good at this blogging thing!)
Permanent LinkNew Holiday Gift & Treat Boxes
The holidays are FINALLY here! With the magic and sparkle of the holidays comes fresh, new packaging and new cookies. The original label is now decked out in white and silver, and and either a white or red ribbon accompanies it. As gorgeous as the box is, have we mentioned our new cookies made especially for the 2007 holidays? Of course, any of our cookies would be the perfect gift, but the two new cookies just beg to be enjoyed at this time of year. Mother Ginger is full of ginger, cloves, cinnamon and a touch of nutmeg. A bit of molasses and a roll through snowy sugar gives this favorite both a soft and crunchy texture.
The Winter Wish is our all-time new favorite. We just get excited thinking about making them! Made up of "a few of our favorite things" (The Sound of Music....what a movie!), you are sure to be excited, too. White chocolate chips and roasted pistachios take a roll through peppermint dust and white sugar. Little specks of red layer the cookie, while hints of green from the pistachios peek through. It's just a gorgeous, delicious cookie. Pair this with a cup of hot chocolate by the fire.....sheer bliss.
**Be sure to click on the individual cookies on the "Our Cookies" page. There are some beautiful pictures of the cookies with our packaging.
